A technical paper presentation at SmallSat Europe

From Defense Strategy to Deployable Systems: SmallSat Europe 2026

The January 23 deadline for technical paper submissions to SmallSat Europe 2026 is fast approaching, and the conference is issuing a clear message to Europe's engineering community: today's operational and security realities demand new system-level solutions, not incremental refinements.

As SpaceNews and SmallSat Europe introduce the EU Space Defense Track this May to tackle strategy and policy, the conference's core mission between now and then remains execution: surfacing the engineering breakthroughs that transform sovereignty from aspiration into deployable capability.

Technical abstracts are requested immediately in the following areas:

  • SAR technology and advanced sensing

  • On-orbit edge computing and AI

  • Sovereign connectivity, IRIS², and alternative PNT

  • Defense–civil fusion (SDA, ISR, federated constellations)

  • Systems engineering

  • Debris mitigation, end-of-life, and sustainability

  • Cybersecurity

  • GEO–LEO hybrid networks

Submissions can be made directly via the SmallSat Europe website.
